In this episode of Chasing the Insights, I talk to inspirational entrepreneur Lyndsay Mitcheson.

Lyndsay talks to us about Finding Your Why.

Lyndsay Mitcheson is the award-winning founder of Neo Walk, a company renowned for crafting exquisite, handmade walking sticks that are shipped worldwide.

Her journey into this unique venture began with personal adversity; as a teenager, Lyndsay was diagnosed with arthritis, primarily affecting her knees. A knee replacement surgery in 2007 led to complications, and subsequent surgeries in 2008 resulted in an MRSA infection, leaving her severely ill. By 2010, she made the courageous decision to have her left leg amputated above the knee.

Despite the challenges, Lyndsay remained active with the aid of a prosthetic leg but found the available walking sticks uninspiring and not reflective of her personality. This realization sparked her creativity, leading her to design her own walking sticks that combined functionality with style.

What started as a personal project soon evolved into Neo Walk, a brand dedicated to normalizing disability and encouraging mainstream designers to consider diverse needs in their products. Lyndsay’s innovative designs have garnered attention from Hollywood, with celebrities like Selma Blair and Christina Applegate among her clientele.

Beyond aesthetics, Neo Walk collaborates on special projects, such as the #FUMS partnership with Christina Applegate, creating walking sticks that raise funds for multiple sclerosis charities. Each Neo Walk stick is meticulously handcrafted in York, tailored to individual specifications, ensuring that users not only gain mobility but also confidence and style.

Through her work, Lyndsay continues to challenge perceptions, advocating for a world where disability is embraced and celebrated.
